Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts Art Jams and Open House

Mary-Angela Papalaskari presented initial work on the Body Glass community art theme during informal art jams at her studio at The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (PAFA). She shared an overview of the project with her PAFA artist cohort and invited attendees to write brief reflections and create designs using pieces of glass.
These designs, along with the participants’ writings, were arranged on an old-fashioned transparency overhead projector, with the projected images captured as portraits of the creators. At a subsequent PAFA studio open house, visitors discussed the project’s goals and insights while actively creating designs for projection. Some visitors also chose to be photographed alongside their unique glass compositions.
